Why You Don’t Need To Fear the Return of Adjustable-Rate Mortgages

I want to assure you that today's ARMs are not the same as those that were popular back then.

Why ARMs Are Becoming More Popular

There are a few reasons why ARMs are becoming more popular. First, mortgage rates have been rising in recent months. This has made fixed-rate mortgages more expensive, and some buyers are looking for a more affordable option. ARMs typically have lower initial interest rates than fixed-rate mortgages, which can save buyers money in the short term.

Second, the lending standards for ARMs have tightened since the housing crash. This means that borrowers are required to meet stricter requirements in order to qualify for an ARM. This helps to reduce the risk of borrowers defaulting on their loans.

Are ARMs a Good Option for Me?

Whether or not an ARM is a good option for you depends on your individual circumstances. If you plan to stay in your home for a short period of time, an ARM may be a good option. However, if you plan to stay in your home for the long term, a fixed-rate mortgage may be a better choice.

It's important to do your research and understand the terms of an ARM before you decide to take one out. Be sure to ask your lender about the interest rate caps and how the rate can change over time.
